Question:353 Mr. E. O'Keeffe asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry the position regarding the programme for farrier apprenticeships.
Written Answers. - Farrier Apprenticeships.
My Department is not directly involved in a programme for farriery apprenticeships. However, I am aware that the Irish Thoroughbred Breeders' Association has a farriery apprenticeship scheme similar to the one formerly operated by Bord na gCapall.
The Interim Horse Board has recently drawn up a development programme for the non-thoroughbred sector in which they recommended that structural funds might be provided for a farriery scheme. I am having this proposal examined.
