Written Answers. - Departmental Appointments.

Bernard J. Durkan

Question:

400 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Tourism and Trade the number and names of persons other than those in the permanent Civil Service, who have been appointed to positions in his Department or other agencies within the ambit of his Department, including Offices of Ministers of State, since the formation of the Government; if he will give details in each case of their job description and conditions of employment, terms of employment, their rank and salary or allowances; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Since the formation of the Government, I have appointed Michael Fitzpatrick as Personal Assistant. His role is to assist me in the carrying out of my duties, both as Minister and as a public representative. He is employed on a contract basis and is paid at the maximum of the salary scale for Higher Executive Officers (currently £21,372 per annum).

I have also appointed Ms. Noeleen McCreevy as Personal Secretary. She is on secondment from the Houses of the Oireachtas and is also employed on a contract basis. She is paid an allowance (currently £15.38 per week) in addition to her salary at the maximum of the salary scale for Secretarial Assistants in the Oireachtas (currently £312.45 per week).

There is no Minister of State at my Department.
