Vol. 425 No. 8

Written Answers. - Ballymote (Sligo) Castle.

Edward Nealon

Question:

41 Mr. Nealon asked the Minister for Finance the plans, if any, the Office of Public Works has for the preservation of Ballymote Castle, County Sligo; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Following the transfer of Ballymote Castle to the Commissioners of Public Works in 1980. major conservation works were undertaken, which are considered adequate to preserve the fabric of the castle for the foreseeable future. There are no plans to carry out any future works apart from routine maintenance.
