Question:40 Mr. Deasy asked the Minister for Justice when it is intended to introduce legislation to allow for a review of court sentences which may be regarded as too lenient.
Vol. 426 No. 2
40 Mr. Deasy asked the Minister for Justice when it is intended to introduce legislation to allow for a review of court sentences which may be regarded as too lenient.
The Criminal Justice Bill, 1992, which lapsed on the dissolution of the Dáil, provided, inter alia, a procedure for the review of unduly lenient sentences.
I propose to reintroduce the Bill in the next week or so with certain amendments which are now under consideration.
