Vol. 426 No. 3

Written Answers. - Social Employment Scheme.

Michael Finucane

Question:

39 Mr. Finucane asked the Minister for Enterprise and Employment whether there are staff available to effectively implement the social employment scheme if the scheme is expanded to 60,000 participants annually; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The Programme for a Partnership Government 1993-1997 aims towards a participation level of 30,000 each year on the community based employment programme which would replace the social employment scheme.

I am satisfied that delivery of this level of participation will not be hindered through lack of resources.
