Vol. 426 No. 5

Written Answers. - Paper Supply.

Trevor Sargent

Question:

196 Mr. Sargent asked the Minister for Defence the quantity of paper used, the quantity of recycled paper used and the quantities of post-consumer paper recycled by his Department.

The paper used by the Department generally is supplied on foot of contracts placed by the Government Supplies Agency and information on the proportion of recycled paper supplied is not readily available in the Department. I am informed that a small amount is recycled paper.

Waste paper from the Department is mainly disposed of by contract and I understand that it is recycled by the contractor. The average annual quantity is approximately 60 tonnes.
