Vol. 426 No. 5

Written Answers. - Paper Supply.

Trevor Sargent

Question:

206 Mr. Sargent asked the Minister for the Marine the quantity of paper used, the quantity of recycled paper used and the quantities of post-consumer paper recycled by his Department.

In 1992, the Department of the Marine used in the region of 2.5 million sheets of non-recycled paper.

Approximately 100,000 envelopes made from recycled paper were used.
Shredded confidential post-consumer paper is recycled by the Department. The quantities involved are not readily available.
The Department plans to increase the proportion of recylced paper it uses and to this end it will use recycled paper as far as possible as soon as current stocks are exhausted.
