Vol. 426 No. 5

Written Answers. - Local Authority Housing.

Bernard J. Durkan

Question:

22 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for the Environment the extent to which the update of local authority housing requirements has been completed; if there are indications of numbers over and above those likely to be provided for by way of financial allocation to local authorities in 1993; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Housing authorities were directed on 7 December, 1992 that an assessment be undertaken under section 9 of the Housing Act, 1988 to establish the need for local authority housing existing at 31 March, 1993. The results of the assessment are to be reported to my Department not later than 30 April 1993 and the results will be published as soon as possible after that.
