Vol. 426 No. 6

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

Enda Kenny

Question:

115 Mr. E. Kenny asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry the reason a headage grant has not been applied to a person (details supplied) in County Mayo.

The person named applied under the 1989 EC scheme of compensatory allowances in respect of forestry.

Paragraph (3a) of the terms and conditions of that scheme state that the scheme will apply only to individual natural persons permanently engaged in agriculture who were in receipt of 1986, 1987 or 1988 grants under the sheep headage scheme or cattle and equines headage scheme or beef cow scheme in the disadvantaged areas.

As the person named did not receive grants under any of these animal headage schemes in the years in question, he is not eligible for compensatory aid in respect of the afforested land.

Paul Bradford

Question:

116 Mr. Bradford asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry when a person (details supplied) in County Cork will receive payment of the 1992 special beef premium; and the amount due to him.

This applicant's June 1992 special beef premium and suckler cow premium schemes grants are being processed at present and if found in order payments of £1,265.40 and £68.54 respectively will issue to him shortly.

His December 1992 special beef premium scheme application will be processed in due course.

Jim O'Keeffe

Question:

117 Mr. J. O'Keeffe asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry the reason for the delay in payment of sheep grants to a person (details supplied) in County Cork; and if he will ensure that payment is made immediately.

I regret the delay in payment of sheep grants to the person named which came about because of a clerical error which has now been corrected.

I have arranged for immediate payment of the first and second instalments due under the 1992 ewe premium scheme and of the grant due under the 1992 sheep headage scheme.
