Question:12 Ms Keogh asked the Minister for the Marine the number of arrests of illegal fishing vessels made in Irish waters in 1992.

Forty-seven fishing vessels were detained by the Naval Service for illegal fishing inside Irish waters during 1992. To date, 32 of these vessels have been prosecuted and fines totalling £712,426 have been imposed by the courts. The remaining 15 cases are sub judice.
