Vol. 427 No. 2

Written Answers. - Charleville (Cork) School Remedial Teaching Service.

Frank Crowley

Question:

216 Mr. Crowley asked the Minister for Education if she will provide a remedial teacher for Tullylease national school, Charleville, County Cork, in view of the results of a recent survey which indicated that one third of the children require remedial teaching.

I am currently examining the scope for deployment of additional teaching resources to children with special education needs.

The question of remedial teaching posts will form a key element in this consideration.

In this connection the Programme for a Partnership Government provides for the recruitment of 500 remedial teachers by September, 1996.
