Vol. 427 No. 3

Wildlife Bill, 1993: First Stage.

I move:

That leave be granted to introduce a Bill entitled an Act to amend the Wildlife Act, 1976 and certain provisions of the Greyhound Industry Act, 1958.

This Bill proposes to repeal and abolish certain enactments which currently permit the very cruel and barbaric practice of live hare coursing and make it unlawful to engage in such cruelty, which I know most Members of this House of all parties deplore.

Is the Bill opposed?

Question put and agreed to.

Since the Bill is not opposed, Second Stage shall be taken in Private Members' time.

I deplore the manner in which Members——

The Deputy will have ample time to ventilate his views on this matter.
