Vol. 427 No. 3

Written Answers. - Social Welfare Benefits.

Charles Flanagan

Question:

68 Mr. Flanagan asked the Minister for Social Welfare if he will review the unemployment assistance payable in the case of a person (details supplied) in County Laois.

The unemployment assistance entitlement of the person concerned has been re-examined. It appears, on the basis of information to hand, that due to a clerical error, which is regretted, full account was not taken of the household circumstances with the result that the applicant was paid a lower rate of Unemployment Assistance than that to which she was entitled. A revised decision has now been given in her case and the weekly rate of Unemployment Assistance payable to her has been increased from £29 to £41. Arrears due amounting to £448.50 will be paid by the end of the week. The applicant is being visited as part of a re-investigation of her case and to confirm that she is being paid the proper amount due to her.
