Vol. 427 No. 3

Written Answers. - Land Commission Annuities.

Michael Creed

Question:

96 Mr. Creed asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry if his attention has been drawn to the difficulties confronting farmers with regard to repayment of Land Commission annuities; and if he will introduce measures to alleviate this hardship.

In September 1992 the Government agreed to a number of concessions to alleviate the financial problems being faced by many farmers in paying their Land Commission annuities. An outline of these concessions was conveyed by letter to all the farmers involved in November, 1992. A further letter is now being issued to these farmers explaining in detail how the concessions affect each farmer individually.
