Vol. 427 No. 4

Written Answers. - Discrimination by Organisations.

Liz O'Donnell

Question:

23 Ms O'Donnell asked the Minister for Equality and Law Reform the action, if any, he intends to take against organisations, including private clubs, which discriminate against persons on the basis of gender; if he will give details of the form this action will take; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The Programme for a Partnership Government contains a commitment to promote legislation prohibiting discrimination inter alia in the provision of goods, facilities and services. I will deal with the issue raised by the Deputy in my proposals.
