Question:

128 Mr. J. Bruton asked the Minister for Enterprise and Employment if his Department publishes statistics on trade union membership in different income and occupational categories.

Annual returns of membership are made by trade unions holding negotiation licences to my Department. The most up-to-date membership figures broken down into broad sectoral/ occupational categories and the number of unions in each category are outlined in the following table. A breakdown of membership by income is not available.
