Written Answers. - Local Authority Housing.

Liz McManus

Question:

170 Ms McManus asked the Minister for the Environment when he intends to allocate funds to Bray UDC for the refurbishment of houses at Hazelwood, Fassaroe, Bray, County Wicklow.

The management and maintenance, including refurbishment, of their dwellings is a matter for the local authority. Proposals for the carrying out of works to these houses under the remedial works scheme have not been received from the authority.

Paul McGrath

Question:

171 Mr. McGrath asked the Minister for the Environment if he will allow local authorities to buy back houses previously owned by them as part of their programme for housing in 1993.

The arrangements in place for the acquisition of private houses allow local authorities to purchase houses previously owned by them. Local authorities have been encouraged to increase their endeavours to purchase private houses, as an element in their expanded housing programme for 1993.
