178 Mr. Allen asked the Minister for Defence the total cost per year, for the first line reserve for each of the years 1987 to 1992.

Expenditure on the First Line Reserve for the years 1987 to 1992 was as follows: 1987, £236,000*; 1988, £85,000; 1989, £58,000; 1990, £68,000; 1991, £69,000; 1992, £79,000.

* Includes annual training; no annual training in subsequent years.
