33 Ms Keogh asked the Minister for Health the date from which the VHI will meet the increased cost in relation to maintenance charges in a public ward and in private and semi-private beds which he announced on Tuesday, 23 February 1993.
The increase in hospital in-patient charges to £20 per day, subject to a maximum liability of £200 in any period of twelve consecutive months, was introduced from 1 March 1993.
Daily charges for private and semi-private accommodation in public hospitals will be increased by £20 per day from 1 July 1993.
