Question:

141 Mr. J. Bruton and Mr. G. Work on legislation concerning alleged miscarriages of justice, reform of the law on insanity, the regulation of charities and street collections and contempt of court is proceeding in my Department and my proposals will be announced in the normal manner in due course.

The reform of the law on defamation is a matter for the Minister for Equality and Law Reform.

Question:

Bruton asked the Minister for Justice when she will introduce legislation on fraud, juvenile justice, street crime, offences against the person, fines and the abolition of the distinction between felonies and misdemeanours as promised in the Programme for Partnership Government 1993 to 1997.
