Vol. 427 No. 8

Written Answers. - Remedial Teachers.

Eamon Gilmore

Question:

245 Mr. Gilmore asked the Minister for Education if she will give a list of the number of primary schools, by county, which do not have the services of a remedial teacher but which have enrolments of more than 400 and more than 500.

All of the 149 primary schools in the country with an enrolment of more than 500 have the services of at least one remedial teacher.

In addition, of the 113 primary schools in the country with an enrolment of between 400 and 500, only 3 are currently without the services of a remedial teacher. These schools are situated in Dublin, Limerick and Meath.

I should point out that, of the 3 schools in question, only one has applied for the services of a remedial teacher.
