Question:

254 Mr. Gilmore asked the Minister for Education the total number of primary teachers who left the service, by reason of resignation, retirement or due to any other cause, in the year 1992; and the number expected to leave in 1993.

The following sets out the information on the number of national school teachers who retired, resigned or otherwise left the service in the calendar year 1992. Estimates for 1993 are included where possible. Deaths and departures for other reasons cannot be predicted with any degree of certainty.
