Vol. 428 No. 1

Written Answers. - County Cork Route Lighting.

Paul Bradford

Question:

264 Mr. Bradford asked the Minister for the Environment if he will give details of the applications which he has received from the Northern Committee of Cork County Council for the erection of traffic route lighting in various locations within the jurisdiction of the committee; and the proposals, if any, he has on the matter.

I take it that the question relates to traffic route lighting on national roads.

In January 1992 proposals were received from Cork County Council for the improvement of public lighting on national primary route N20 in Mallow, from Keary's Garage to Mallow General Hospital. In March 1992, the council was requested to provide further information in relation to the proposal. On receipt of this information, the matter will receive full consideration.

Over the past two years, a programme to replace obsolete lanterns and fittings on national roads has been implemented. The areas of North Cork which benefited from the programme were Rathcormac, Fermoy and Watergrasshill on the N8, and Charleville, Mallow and Buttevant on the N20.
