Andrew Boylan

Question:

306 Mr. Boylan asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry if his attention has been drawn to the serious delay in paying grant aid for farm development projects from the Cavan Office of his Department; if his attention has further been drawn to the fact that over £200,000 is currently held up, causing serious financial loss and hardship to many farmers; if he will take immediate action to have this money paid out; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

In the light of the extra money provided in the budget to augment resources available to this Department to deal, inter alia, with the new schemes arising from Common Agricultural Policy reform, the staff of all the farm development service offices who had been temporarily withdrawn have now returned to their normal duties. This should allow grant payments to be dealt with in the normal way.
