Vol. 428 No. 1

Written Answers. - County Cork School Bus Service.

Ned O'Keeffe

Question:

464 Mr. E. O'Keeffe asked the Minister for Education the up-to-date position regarding the school bus service to a national school (details supplied) in County Cork.

I am aware of the case to which the Deputy refers, and I can assure him of my Department's ongoing commitment to arriving at a satisfactory resolution of this matter.

However, the situation in question has been complicated by conflicting local demands which are being made on my Department, and the fundamental need to ensure that any arrangement which emerges be in compliance with the terms of the school transport scheme.

My Department is continuing to work towards a resolution of this matter and is currently awaiting a response from the chairperson of the Board of Management of the school in question.
