146 Mr. Yates asked the Minister for Finance if a penalty clause will be dropped in relation to a car seizure for a person (details supplied) in County Wexford in view of the fact that he notified the Customs and Excise authorities of his intentions.
I am informed by the Revenue Commissioners that they have reviewed the circumstances pertaining to the seizure of this vehicle. Following this review, they are prepared to accept the bona fides of the owner's account of his dealings with the Revenue authorities and to waive the payment of a penalty in this particular case.
