The present book scheme operated by my Department is a scheme of aid towards the cost of school books for needy pupils. The 1993 Estimates provide for an increase of £200,000 in the total provision for this scheme at primary level.
The operation of this scheme is at present the subject of ongoing discussions with the interested parties.
