Question:225 Mr. Allen asked the Minister for Health if he will fund a new post of National Director to administer the country's ten vocational training schemes in medicine.

The importance of supporting vocational training in general practice was recognised in the November, 1992, GMS agreement. Arising from this agreement my Department is currently examining, in conjunction with the relevant general practitioner representative groups, a number of issues relating to general practice vocational training, including the provision of appropriate co-ordination structures.
