Vol. 429 No. 3

Written Answers. - Profit Repatriation.

Jim Higgins

Question:

69 Mr. J. Higgins asked the Taoiseach the amount of profits repatriated by foreign companies located here; and the countries to which such profits accrued.

The available information, which is taken from the Balance of Payments statement, relates to remittances abroad of profits, dividends and royalties by Irish resident companies and branches of foreign companies. This includes dividends paid to foreign minority shareholders in majority Irish-owned companies, for which separate figures are not available. A breakdown by country is not available. Figures are given for the years 1980 to 1991, the latest full year for which the Balance of Payments results are available.
