Vol. 429 No. 3

Written Answers. - Ministerial Shareholding.

Alan M. Dukes

Question:

83 Mr. Dukes asked the Minister for Finance if he as Minister for Finance still holds 225,000 preference shares in Clonmel Chemicals as stated in that company's records; if so, when they were purchased; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

In May 1991 the Minister for Finance was entered as the holder of 225,000 cumulative preference shares, following agreement by the Industrial Development Authority to acquire preference shares in the company at par value.

Under section 9 (d) (ii) of the Industrial Development (Amendment) Act, 1991 all such shares entered in the name of the Minister for Finance were transferred and entered in the name of the Authority. Therefore, I do not at present have any preference share-holding in Clonmel Chemicals Limited.
