Vol. 429 No. 3

Written Answers. - Cork District Court Premises.

Peter Barry

Question:

113 Mr. Barry asked the Minister for Justice when it is proposed to start work on the new District Court premises at Anglesea Street, Cork; the number of courtrooms that will be provided; if there will be a provision for public parking space; the time it will take to complete the building; and if she will make a statement on the matter.

The position regarding the provision of additional courtroom space in Cork city is that a number of premises are being considered. The Office of Public Works have carried out a feasibility study on one of these premises which appeared initially to have the best potential. The results of that study and other proposals are at present being considered by my Department. While I cannot at this stage specify a timeframe for the completion of this project, I can confirm that there will be no avoidable delay.
