Vol. 429 No. 6

Written Answers. - Shared Ownership Housing Scheme.

Rory O'Hanlon

Question:

145 Dr. O'Hanlon asked the Minister for the Environment the number of houses provided to date by each local authority through the shared ownership social housing programme and for grants for the elderly in lieu of local authority housing.

The latest available details of activity by housing authorities under the shared ownership scheme are published in my Department's housing statistics bulletin, 1992, copies of which are available in the Oireachtas Library. As to the second part of the question, details of activity under the scheme for the carrying out of improvement works in lieu of local authority housing are also given in the bulletin. Full details are not available in my Department in relation to the number of cases where the applicant is classified as an elderly person but a survey suggests that the proportion is about 8 per cent.
