Vol. 429 No. 6

Written Answers. - Professional Services.

Ivan Yates

Question:

255 Mr. Yates asked the Minister for Transport, Energy and Communications if he will give details of the firms which have been retained by State-sponsored bodies in his Departmental area and that of his Minister for State for market research, advertising, public relations and marketing purposes; the projects, if any, which are being carried out by each of these firms; the fees or retainers, if any, which are being paid for each of these projects; the duration of the contract for each project; if all services were secured through tendering; and if he will give details of the tendering procedures.

In relation to State-sponsored bodies within my area of responsibility, the information sought by the Deputy falls within the scope of day-to-day activities of those bodies and I have no statutory function in that regard.

Clear guidelines on the appointment of professional services by State-sponsored bodies have been set out in the report on Guidelines for State Bodies published by the Department of Finance in March 1992.
