Vol. 429 No. 6

Written Answers. - Aer Lingus Contributions to Exchequer.

Trevor Sargent

Question:

46 Mr. Sargent asked the Minister for Transport, Energy and Communications if he will give a report on the contribution of Aer Lingus over the years to the Irish Exchequer in terms of tax returns, employment levels and support for ancillary employment throughout Ireland and abroad.

I have no function in regard to the matter of the contribution of Aer Lingus over the years to the Irish Exchequer in terms of tax returns. The payments made by a State body are aspects of the day-to-day operation of that body. My responsibility is for matters of general policy.

I propose to circulate in the Official Report a tabular statement giving relevant available information on employment levels in Aer Lingus.
