Vol. 429 No. 6

Written Answers. - Foreign Births Register.

Peter Barry

Question:

60 Mr. Barry asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Foreign Affairs the number of people registered on the foreign births register in 1991 and 1992.

The figures sought by the Deputy are as follows: 1991: 3,612; 1992: 3,564.

These figures cover both individuals who applied directly to the Department to have their births entered in the Foreign Register and those who were living abroad and whose details were entered in a Foreign Births Entry Book held in an Irish diplomatic mission or consular office. Particulars of these latter entries are transmitted to the Department on a monthly basis and entered in the main Foreign Births Register held in the Department.
