Vol. 429 No. 6

Written Answers. - Meeting Between Departmental Officers.

Question:

76 Mr. Byrne asked the Minister for Finance the grade and section of the official, from the Revenue Commissioners, who attended a meeting with an official of the Department of Agriculture on 8 October 1992 regarding the status of an organisation (details supplied) in County Wexford; the outcome of the meeting; the actions that have resulted from it; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The official in question from the Office of the Revenue Commissioners was a higher executive officer in the secretary taxes branch. I am given to understand that, arising from the meeting, the organisation was asked to supply certain documents to the Registrar of Friendly Societies. I understand that this documentation has now been supplied. My Department received correspondence on this matter on 23 April from the Department of Agriculture, Food and Forestry and, in the light of this correspondence, I am having the matter examined urgently by my Department and the office of the Revenue Commissioners.
