Written Answers. - Neighbourhood Watch.

John Bruton

Question:

69 Mr. J. Bruton asked the Minister for Justice if she will give a list of the neighbourhood watch schemes in operation in County Meath; and the proportion of the population of the county now covered by neighbourhood watch.

I am informed by the Garda authorities that there are currently 29 neighbourhood watch schemes in operation in County Meath involving some 5,331 households. Figures are not available in relation to the number of persons who reside in each participating household. However, it is estimated that the number of households involved represents approximately 18.5 per cent of all households in County Meath.

Details of the neighbourhood watch schemes in operation in County Meath are set out in the following tabular statement.
