Vol. 429 No. 7

Written Answers. - Curragh Camp (Kildare) Living Accommodation.

Seán Barrett

Question:

85 Mr. Barrett asked the Minister for Defence the plans, if any, he has to replace the substandard living accommodation in the Curragh Camp; when work will commence; and the time scale for the completion of this work.

The provision of satisfactory living acommodation for members of the Defence Forces is an important objective in the overall drive to improve living conditions generally. Where single accommodation in use is not up to acceptable standard, steps are being taken to improve it progressively within the limits of resources available for the purpose. A board has been established to examine the whole question of married quarters, including the condition and grading of quarters in the Curragh Camp. The board is due to submit its report and recommendations by 31 July 1993.
