Vol. 429 No. 8

Written Answers. - Temple Street (Dublin) Hospital.

Noel Ahern

Question:

97 Mr. N. Ahern asked the Minister for Health if he will make a statement on the future plans for Temple Street Hospital, Dublin 1; whether the future of this hospital is secure or if its amalgamation or development on the Mater Hospital site is under consideration.

It has been agreed in principle that the Children's Hospital, Temple Street should be rebuilt on the campus of the Mater Hospital at Eccles Street, Dublin. However, before this can be undertaken a considerable amount of detailed planning will be required.

In the meantime, the hospital will continue to provide services on its present site and my Department is engaged in discussions with the hospital regarding urgent upgrading work which will be needed to ensure that the hospital can continue to carry out its functions as effectively as possible.
