Question:

170 Mr. Barry asked the Minister for the Environment when the national recycling strategy will be put in place; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Wexford): With a view to progressing the national recycling strategy envisaged by the Programme for Government, I have recently published a major consultancy study on recycling in Ireland. I have invited industrial, local authority, consumer and environmental interests for their views on the complex issues raised in the study. When this consultation has been completed. I intend to finalise the national recycling strategy immediately.
