Vol. 430 No. 2

Written Answers. - Aviation Authority.

John Bruton

Question:

231 Mr. J. Bruton asked the Minister for Transport, Energy and Communications if it is proposed to introduce legislation to put the air navigation services office of his Department on a semi-State basis.

In July 1991, the Government decided to establish a new commercial State-sponsored body to take over the executive role and functions at present being discharged by my Department's air navigation services office. A Bill to establish the new body— the Irish Aviation Authority — is being drafted at present. It is my intention that the Bill will be introduced in the Oireachtas in the current session.
