Vol. 430 No. 2

Written Answers. - Pharmacy Acts.

John Bruton

Question:

282 Mr. J. Bruton asked the Minister for Health if he intends to introduce amendments to the Pharmacy Acts, as promised by his predecessor on 24 June 1992 in Dáil Éireann; and, if so, the broad purpose of the amendments that he has in mind.

My Department is at present consulting with representatives of the pharmacists' profession on an outline of proposals for a Pharmacy Bill. This would update and consolidate in one Act all the provisions relating to pharmacy in a manner which would take account of developments in the practice of pharmacy and the object of promoting and maintaining high standards of education, training and practice in the profession.
