Vol. 430 No. 2

Written Answers. - Hewetson (Kildare) School.

Seán Power

Question:

324 Mr. Power asked the Minister for Education when construction will commence on Hewetson national school, County Kildare; and if the loss of documentation will delay construction further.

Bernard J. Durkan

Question:

335 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Education if she has received communication from the authorities at Hewetson School, Clane, County Kildare regarding requirements at the school; the present total requirements of the school; if she intends to meet any, or all, of these requirements; if she will give a timescale for this; if, within her total available resources in the current year, she expects to be able to make a favourable response; and if she will make a statement on the matter.

I propose to take Question Nos. 324 and 335 together.

An extension of one classroom and the upgrading of the existing school is at an advanced stage of architectural planning. It is not possible to include the project in the current national schools capital programme for 1993, because of the claims made on available finance by other higher priority projects. It is not possible at this stage to say when the project will commence but it is my intention to meet the school's necessary accommodation requirements when capital funds allow. Non inclusion in the 1993 programme is not related in any way to loss of documentation.
