Vol. 430 No. 2

Written Answers. - Hospital Charges.

John Browne

Question:

20 Mr. Browne (Carlow-Kilkenny) asked the Minister for Health if he has any plans to extend the present 30-day limit for patients who are medical card holders in district hospitals.

I presume that the Deputy is referring to long-stay charges which are applicable to patients who are in receipt of in-patient services after 30 days. A comprehensive review of these charges and their application is currently being carried out in my Department and I expect to have the recommendations shortly.
