Vol. 430 No. 2

Written Answers. - Eastern Health Board Appointments.

Charles Flanagan

Question:

30 Mr. Flanagan asked the Minister for Health the number of occasions within the last two years in which the Eastern Health Board sought ministerial approval for the appointment of individuals to permanent positions in the board's employment without competition.

Within the last two years, the Eastern Health Board have sought and received approval from my Department for the appointment of 16 individuals without competition.

The reasons for making these appointments in this manner have included the board facilitating the re-deployment of staff from other health agencies due to changes in the service provision, the re-employment of former female officers who became widowed and the employment of people with disabilities.
