Question:258 Mr. J. O'Keeffe asked the Minister for Health the proposals on the future of the health boards.
I propose taking Questions Nos. 33 and 258 together. I am currently considering legislative proposals to replace the Eastern Health Board with a new authority and for reform of the wider health board structure to achieve better co-ordination between community and hospital services and to improve accountability.
These proposals will be an important part of the new national health strategy which I am preparing at present.
