117 Mrs. T. Ahearn asked the Minister for Finance if he will remove the anomaly whereby the PAYE tax free allowance is not allowed to family members of the self-employed working in the family business; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I do not accept that there is an anomaly and I have no plans to extend the availability of the PAYE allowance. The non-availability of the allowance is the subject of a case at present before the courts.
