Vol. 430 No. 3

Written Answers. - Incorrect Drugs Prescription Implications.

Jim Mitchell

Question:

134 Mr. J. Mitchell asked the Minister for Health if his attention has been drawn to the case of a person (details supplied) in Dublin 7 who has suffered prolonged and apparently permanent damage to his health because of the prescribing of incorrect drugs; whether there is any fund available from which compensation can be paid in cases like this; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The prescribing of medicines in any individual case is the responsibility of the medical practitioner concerned. My Department has no information in relation to the case referred to by the Deputy.
