Vol. 430 No. 5

Written Answers. - Reconstruction Grants.

Michael Creed

Question:

145 Mr. Creed asked the Minister for the Environment if his Department administers any grants or financial assistance to people who are suffering from Multiple Sclerosis and who want to reconstruct their homes to allow easy access and mobility around the house.

Under the Disabled Persons Grants' Scheme administered by county councils and county borough corporations, assistance is provided for the adaptation or extension of, or provision of additional facilities in, existing houses specifically to meet the needs of disabled persons. My Department recoups proportion of the expenditure incurred by the local authorities in the payment of individual grants.
