Vol. 430 No. 5

Written Answers. - Wildlife Act, 1976.

Jim Higgins

Question:

30 Mr. J. Higgins asked the Minister for Finance if he intends to make finance available to give effect to section 11 (1) of the Wildlife Act, 1976; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

In the revised estimates for Public Services, 1993, a total of £9,082,000 has been allocated to the national parks and wildlife service under Subhead G. This figure does not include the provision for non-industrial staff, included for administration (Subhead A1).

This money will be spent on the conservation of wildlife, and in the presentation of protected areas including national parks to the public. This matter is an important part of the overal conservation effort.

Full details of the estimates will be provided in the estimates speech.
